What 'average response time' actually means, and how to check it
Every security company quotes a number. Here is how ours is calculated, and the questions to ask any provider before you sign.
by Bastion control room
Response time is the gap between the control room receiving a genuine panic signal and a vehicle arriving at the gate. Ours is measured by GPS, on every activation, and averaged monthly per suburb.
Questions to ask any provider
- Is the number an average or a best case?
- Is it for panic signals only, or does it include patrol visits?
- How many vehicles are on my zone at 02:00 on a Tuesday?
- Will you show me last month’s number for my suburb?
If the answers are vague, so is the response.
